melbourne poem
In the beginning
there was a fire.
Stark gum trees
crisp and calcined.
We steered clear,
stuck to the coast.
The fog rose
from the eastern sky.
You see, matters of the flesh
are serious like certainty.
The Australian waters his shrub
with a parabolic jet stream.
Something automatic
about his tenderness.
Outside the sun rages
and you curl into my lap.
A puddle of drool on my thigh,
I love you so much.
Every story of romance
is the same story.
Two people getting so close
feeling is mirrored oscillation.
I want to stick your face
between my legs and push.
The fire has been burning
for weeks on end.
Maybe we should turn the car on
and drive towards it.
While you love me lovingly,
like a lover like a lover.

Dude I adore this
